Pause a moment to remember where food comes from -- and give thanks by helping local farmers -- while munching bodacious burritos.
From 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, Chipotle Mexican Grill is hosting a fundraiser for Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF), and will contribute 50 percent of the proceeds from diners who bring this flyer into all Bay Area Chipotle restaurants on that day.
According to this heads-up we've just received from sustainability-minded Chipotle, "CAFF is dedicated to building a movement of rural and urban people to foster family-scale agriculture that cares for the land, sustains local economies, and promotes social justice. Last year, Chipotle reached its goal of purchasing 25 percent of at least one bulk produce item in all of its restaurants from local farmers nationwide. Chipotle's new goal is to reach 35 percent in 2009."
Chipotle will also participate in the Eat Real Festival on August 29 30 in Oakland, donating almost 50 percent of that event's proceeds to various nonprofits, including CAFF.
