Hard-hitting Israeli-German-Belgian production looks at the hectic life of Sanfur (Shadi Mar’i), an ordinary young Palestinian man caught between a “terrorist brigade” and an Israeli intelligence agent (Tsahi Halevi) in the title city. A soon as the film gets going we can see that Sanfur is trapped, with no way out, and that it will undoubtedly end badly for him. And so he scurries around like a rat, dodging the “beards” (from Hamas), his friends, and the relentless long arm of the state. Director Yuval Adler’s drama is extremely suspenseful, with a terse screenplay by Adler and Ali Wakad, who has a small role in the film (99 min.).
