Okay, the marine layer is nice, but when it’s time to really experience summer, drive out to Danville for an outdoor movie night — most likely the air temperature will hover at a balmy 80 degrees. Family-friendly films are screened every other weekend June through August on Danville’s lovely Town Green: Look for Babe, Jumanji, and Matilda over the next few weeks. Moviegoers bring their own blankets, snacks, and lawn chairs; the show starts at 8:30 p.m. It doesn’t hurt that Danville has a long history of being a “livin’ is easy” kind of place: Bay Miwok Indians settled next to its creeks and camped on Mount Diablo in the summer until the town was overrun by gold-seekers in the mid-1800s. A summer night outside — with crickets — in small-town California? Ain’t nothing like it.
