Cosmo's Jazz Spot

Looking for a little piece of the Village in Oakland? Check out Cosmo’s Jazz Spot, a gem so hidden that if you don’t know what you’re looking for you can easily miss it. At five hundred square feet, Cosmo’s is definitely cozy; owner Rob Riggle opened the venue in 2011 not only as a place for musicians to practice, record, teach, and perform (basic equipment is available for use), but also to “spread the joy in the neighborhood and make music happen.” Recent performers have included Andrea Claburn and Jua Howard, Danny Caron and Good Hands, Four and More, and Mario Guarneri’s tbd. Cosmo’s rough edges are part of its charm, said Four and More lead singer Kathy Blackburn. “It sort of feels like I’m in the Village in New York City — kind of divey, but in a good way.”
