.Best Shop for Sneaking Food Into the Movies

E-Z Stop Deli

Movie theaters generally ban outside food and beverages, but if there ever was a good place to pick up snacks to sneak into the movies, it would be the EZ Stop Deli. If you can look past the expiration date on a bar of chocolate, you’ll find a rotating treasure trove of discounted snacks on the EZ Stop counter. Picking up a bargain bite at the EZ Stop is resourceful and cuts down on waste — it’s also cheaper than any movie theater. For just a buck or two, a thick bar of fine chocolate can be yours. Selections have included dark, Belgian chocolate; high-percentage cocoa for paring with Zinfandel; even the occasional vegan chocolate bar. Not only does EZ Stop stock the goods, but almost any time of day, somewhere nearby, there will be a curtain rising on a movie. Check the California around the corner, the Shattuck or United Artists just to the south, or hike up to campus and slip into the Pacific Film Archive. There’s no real justification for sneaking snacks into the movies, but if you do, ease your guilt by supporting the theaters with your drink purchase.
