We are spoiled here in the East Bay. Not only do we have vineyards, but
we are also so close to Napa Valley that there is no excuse for locals
not to have a educated palette. Perhaps the best place to take a
refresher course on wine is at the Franklin Square Wine Bar’s
Thursday-night tastings. For $1, you get to sample whatever the local
vintners have brought with them. That could include wines from
Periscope Cellars, Tricycle Winery, or any of the thousands of other
wineries we’re blessed to live near. And, of course, you can stop in
for refresher courses any day except Sunday, when the wine bar itself
is open for impromptu educational sessions.
