.Best Mediterranean Food

Wally's Café

Wally’s Café is the epitome of a “hole in the wall” restaurant. To enter the café, you can either take the side entrance near the trashcans or go through the Bank Club, a kitschy, dimly lit dive bar that has a door in the back connecting to the café. The one-room café, with its white walls and sparse decorations, has an open kitchen buttressed by an old-school diner counter and wooden swivel chairs. It’s a no-frills kind of place, but the quality and deliciousness of the food make up for it. The menu has every Mediterranean staple you could possibly think of: kebabs, gyros, shawarma, hummus, tabbouleh, fattoush and Greek salads, dolmades, and baba ghanoush, as well as a few non-Mediterranean staples like cheeseburgers, burritos, panini, and French fries. Nine times out of ten, you’ll find Wally himself behind the counter, too. But the best part about this place is the free bowl of amazing lentil soup and slice of baklava that come with every order.
