Doing laundry at the Laundromat is the suckiest chore. Besides hoping that a pair of errant panties doesn't fall in front of that cute guy by the industrial washers, you have to make sure you have enough change and detergent and that some weirdo doesn't steal your favorite hoodie while you're next door getting a Slurpee. But Lillian Freeman (Miss Lillian to her fans), laundress and overall kindly soul, makes one of the worst chores ever a lot more tolerable. Since 1978, she's been dispensing soap and friendly greetings (and change for a dollar) to her many customers. Whether the topic is a cheating boyfriend or how much soap you should use on "delicates," she always has sage advice. But despite her kindness and diminutive stature, she won't think twice about ushering fools and would-be laundry thieves out the door. If you're not squeamish about airing your dirty laundry, Miss Lillian will wash your drawers for a reasonable fee. She's there 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. every weekday.
