.Best Roadside Cornfield Stand

Mangini's

The corn is as high as an elephant’s eye and the windmill looks like
it’s reaching way up the sky near the rudimentary green stand with an
old tractor out front. It’s one of the few remaining pieces of
undeveloped land in the area. Roll along on Pleasant Hill Road, a bit
south of Taylor Boulevard and there’s the field of corn that has been
growing for you since spring. August is the hot month for being corny.
Park near the stand. Stand and wonder at how green the corn is as the
sunlight plays on it. Appreciate the importance of the red wheels on
the tractor. Walk in to select corn picked that morning from the
cornfield right there. Shuck an ear or two and take in the freshness.
It also sells melons, squash, beans and stone fruit. Signs announce
“Fresh white corn,” and “Fresh Brentwood cherries.” As Halloween
approaches it’s a punkin’ patch.
