.Best Car Dealer: An electrifying test drive

For years, Mike O’Connell ran O’Connell Volvo on Webster Street in Alameda. But last year he decided to go a more sustainable direction. Since February, O’Connell Volvo has been specializing in ZAP Smart cars, and judging from the changing inventory in the showroom, they’re selling like hotcakes. The three-wheeled cars can do about 40 miles an hour for up to 25 miles on a single 110-volt charge, which is perfect for most local driving. They come in green, red, blue, and (our favorite) the Xebra, painted in black and white stripes. The cars have a $10,000 price tag, but produce zero emissions, and frankly look pretty damn cool. There’s even a pickup in white or blue, which costs about $11,000.
