.Best Cafe to Loiter at All Day Long and Do “Work”

Mama Buzz Cafe

Located in what some might get suspiciously defensive about labeling
“the hip part of town,” Mama Buzz is surrounded by businesses such as
Rock Paper Scissors Collective, the Stork Club, and Fort Gallery, to
name but a few. They call this area an “underground arts district,” and
Mama Buzz is in many ways the hub, with everything you could want for a
day’s lollygagging: good tunes, strong coffee, cheap eats, local art on
the walls and, of course, beer on tap. Hang out on the back patio and
work on that never-ending novella. Maybe take a few furtive glances at
mysterious poetry girl/boy in the corner. Here the subcultures collide,
plot, plan, and, yes, primp. Hipsters, stoners, poets, punks, bikers,
artists, musicians, and wingnuts of all stripes come here to break
bread together and “get it done,” as the kids say. The street-scored
furnishings, cracked windows, and twisting vines — even the
sticky counters and surly staff — add to the charm. The creative
energy practically seeps out of the walls.
