Albany Bowl

Scene: 11 a.m. on a Sunday.
Situation: A bit hungover, but still willing to make good on promise to bowl with friends.
Scene: Interior of dimly lit Albany Bowl.
Sounds: Hundreds of ten-pound balls thudding onto wooden lanes, racks of pins exploding from every direction — crash! ka-boom! ka-blam! — scores of children screaming — it’s a bowling alley filled with children’s birthday parties!
Situation: Hangover escalates to Stage 5.
Scene: Walking out of lounge, Bloody Mary in hand, eyes barely open, only to see a six-foot-tall bowling pin named Mr. Pin standing in doorway. He is smiling.
Situation: Mr. Pin offers a gentle hand, as if to say, “May I lead this dance?”
Scene: Children surround Mr. Pin, all laughing at this proposition.
Situation: Utter confusion. Red Zone, Stage 10 Meltdown.
Scene: Mr. Pin casually slides to the left, sashays to the right, and elegantly makes his way toward intended target, the Birthday Girl, who gets a fun dance with Mr. Pin.
Situation: Relief ensues. Friends are located at lane. Bloody Mary takes effect. Albany Bowl is recognized, at that moment, as perhaps the sweetest bowling alley ever.
