2. The NBA Players’ Association is demanding maximum sanctions against Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling after news surfaced of an audio recording of Sterling making racist comments to his girlfriend, the Mercury News$ reports. Sterling was recorded telling his girlfriend to not associate with African Americans and to not bring black people to Clippers games, including NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson. Angered by the owner’s comments, Clippers players turned their team warmup shirts inside out in protest before the game, and then lost in a blow-out to the Golden State Warriors in the fourth game of their playoff series.

3. The search resumed today for a small plane that crashed into San Pablo Bay after a midair collision with another plane Sunday afternoon, the Chron reports. The second plane landed safely and the pilot and passenger were unhurt, but search crews have only found debris so far from the Cessna that plunged into the bay.

4. Jerry Brown declared emergency drought measures on Friday, in a move that environmentalists say went too far because the governor’s announcement included the suspension of the state’s main environmental law — the California Environmental Quality Act — under certain circumstances, the SacBee$ reports.

5. And Oakland is struggling to keep up with the need for bike lanes in the city, as new residents move in and the number of cyclists grows dramatically, the Chron reports.
