A woman is suing the Northern California Transplant Bank and Tissue Banks International for defying her father’s final wishes by sending one of his corneas to Cairo, Egypt. Desiriece Sedra-Hogner agreed to donate her late father Earl Sedra’s eyes to the transplant bank with the understanding that they would only be used for needy patients in the United States, according to the lawsuit filed October 25 in Alameda County Superior Court. Sedra-Hogner is seeking an unspecified damages from tissue harvesters for emotional distress.
